Beacon Training Solutions

Beacon was established from the very beginning as a provider of intelligence analysis training solutions for government and the private sector. 

We very quickly learned that different clients held differing views of what they required from their intelligence analysts and therefore differing views of what training those analysts required to be effective in their duties. Over the decades we have been in business, we have striven to meet the needs of individual clients while quietly compiling a program of core skills and knowledge which we have found to be essential for all intelligence analysts.

All of those skills and knowledge have been encapsulated in the Strategic Intelligence Assessment training course that we jointly deliver with RISC Plc in the United Kingdom, augmented with the strategic content and orientation necessary for intelligence analysts providing intelligence advice to the upper echelons of government and industry. That course is recognised by the expert analysis group within the UK Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), which forms part of the UK Government Home Office. This makes it the ‘official’ qualification for UK law enforcement and compliance agencies.

That knowledge and skills are also in the process of being included in the Diploma of Intelligence Analysis which we are currently developing on conjunction with CIT Solutions here in Australia. CIT Solutions is the commercial arm of the Canberra Institute of Technology. When this qualification comes on line in September of this year, it will become the standard vocational intelligence analysis qualification for a range of national and regional government agencies, as well as key members of the private sector. Agencies already committed include:

• Australian Federal Police
• Australian Customs Service
• Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship
• Australian Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations
• Medicare
• Centrelink
• Australian Taxation Office

CIT Solutions is also exploring pathways to post graduate studies in conjunction with the Centre for Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism at Macquarie University. Unlike certain self-styled intelligence colleges, these are genuine formal higher education opportunities in intelligence analysis offered through bona fide internationally recognised and respected Australian tertiary education institutions. 

At Beacon, we also leverage our significant experience and expertise in the areas of fraud risk management and investigation to develop and deliver tailored Fraud Awareness Training programs to both government agencies and the private sector. We do this in conjunction with WalterTurnbull Forensics.
